This policy is issued by Folie Imposée UG (haftungsbeschränkt), Mittenwalderstraße 44, 10961 Berlin, Germany, trading as Moth and Rabbit Perfumes (referred to in this policy as "we," "us," or "the Company").
This policy applies to all customers ordering directly from our website, worldwide. Customers in the European Union and United Kingdom have additional statutory rights, set out separately below — this policy does not reduce those rights, and customers outside the EU/UK retain whatever rights their own local law provides.
This baseline applies to every order, regardless of country, in addition to any statutory rights described below for the European Union and the United Kingdom.
All items must be returned unused, unopened, with the seal intact, and in their original packaging. A perfume cannot be returned for change-of-mind reasons once its outer seal has been broken, or once the bottle's spray pump has been primed or used — whichever happens first. This is a worldwide house policy, applied consistently regardless of whether local law requires it.
Where no statutory right of withdrawal applies, or once any statutory window has passed, we may, at our sole discretion, accept a return up to 30 days from delivery, under the same sealed-and-resaleable condition.
Because this window is voluntary rather than a legal entitlement, we are not bound to refund to the original payment method here. Instead: the refund is issued as a credit note, redeemable against any fragrance on our website, rather than to the original payment method; and we may decline the return, or offer a reduced credit note reflecting any loss in value, at our discretion.
You are responsible for arranging and paying for return shipping. We do not currently provide prepaid return labels.
Because perfume is classified as a flammable liquid under transport regulations, returns must be sent via a courier or postal service authorised to carry dangerous goods (Class 3) — standard letter post may not accept it without correct labelling. We can advise on compliant carriers on request.
The goods remain your responsibility until received by us. We recommend tracked, insured shipping. Goods lost in transit are not treated as returned and cannot be refunded.
All returns are examined on receipt. Reimbursement, whether a statutory refund or a credit note, is issued once this examination confirms the item meets the required condition.
Where the item is not in a re-sellable condition: within a statutory window (see the EU and UK sections below), we may only deduct an amount reflecting the loss in value — we cannot refuse the refund outright unless the seal or pump exception applies; within the goodwill window, since this is discretionary rather than a legal entitlement, we may decline the credit note entirely, reduce it, or return the goods to you at your cost.
This is not a change-of-mind return, and it is not excluded by the seal/pump condition above. Consumer guarantee and conformity laws apply here regardless of country, vary by jurisdiction, and cannot be excluded by this policy. In the EU (Sale of Goods Directive 2019/771), you are generally entitled to a free repair or replacement first, with a price reduction or refund available if that fails or isn't possible within a reasonable time. In the UK (Consumer Rights Act 2015), you have a short-term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund within the first 30 days, without repair or replacement being offered first. Other markets have their own equivalent guarantees, none of which are excluded by this policy.

If your order was marked as a gift and shipped directly to you: within the statutory withdrawal or cancellation period (where applicable), any refund is made to the original purchaser's payment method, as required by law — you may arrange the return on their behalf, but the refund itself cannot be redirected to you. Outside that period, under our goodwill window, you may instead request a credit note to the value of the item, redeemable on our website, without involving the original purchaser.
If the order was not marked as a gift, or was shipped to the purchaser to give to you, any refund follows the same rule above and the original purchaser will be notified of the return.
This policy applies only to orders placed directly through our website. If a perfume was purchased through one of our stockists, concept stores, or niche e-tail partners, any return must be made in accordance with that retailer's own return policy.
We monitor return activity and reserve the right to query suspicious patterns, or to decline future orders where return activity indicates abuse of this policy.
If you are a consumer ordering from an address in the European Union, the following applies in addition to the Worldwide House Policy above, and prevails over it wherever the two conflict.
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days from the day on which you, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you, acquire physical possession of the goods.
To exercise this right, use the Returns link in our website footer, or send an unequivocal statement to returns@moth-rabbit.com. If you use the link, you will be asked to sign in, confirm the order, and confirm your decision in a second, separate step, and you will receive an email acknowledgement of receipt without delay.
To meet the deadline, it is sufficient to send your withdrawal communication before the 14-day period has expired.
This right of withdrawal does not apply once the outer seal of the perfume box has been broken or removed, or once the bottle's spray pump has been primed or used, under the exception for goods that are sealed for health protection or hygiene reasons. Where neither has occurred, the right described above applies in full.
We shall reimburse all payments received from you, including the original delivery costs we charged to send the order to you (excluding any supplementary costs from a delivery method other than our least expensive standard option), without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day we are informed of your decision to withdraw. We will use the same means of payment you used for the original transaction, unless you expressly agree otherwise, and you will not incur fees as a result. We may withhold reimbursement until we receive the goods back, or until you supply evidence of having sent them back, whichever is earliest.
This reimbursement does not include the cost of returning the goods to us. You bear that cost yourself, provided it was disclosed to you before you placed the order. You are only liable for diminished value resulting from handling beyond what's necessary to establish the goods' nature, characteristics, and functioning.
Independently of the right of withdrawal above, you are entitled to a legal warranty against defects and non-conformity, exercisable within at least two years from delivery, pursuant to Directive (EU) 2019/771, as transposed into the national law of your Member State.
If you are a consumer ordering from an address in the United Kingdom, the following applies in addition to the Worldwide House Policy above, under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason, calculated in the same way as above for European Union customers.

Refund timing, payment method, and your liability for diminished value mirror the European Union terms above, under the equivalent UK regulation. Your faulty-goods rights, including the short-term right to reject, are described above.
Consumers located outside the European Union and United Kingdom enjoy the legal warranties and protections set out by their own corresponding local laws. This policy does not affect your rights as a consumer as granted by local law — where local law provides stronger protection than this policy on any point, that local law applies instead. The Worldwide House Policy above is the baseline that applies in addition to those local rights.
